One of the wealthiest and most well-known rapper, Kanye West, is currently being sued by the state of California for illegal shipping delays with his popular shoe brand Yeezy. According to California, Yeezy did not ship the items within 30 days and did not accurately notify the consumers of the late delays or provide the opportunity for a refund, which violates the state’s business code.

According to California’s business code, a company must ship products ordered online within 30 days, and if they fail to do so, they must provide a refund or send items that are equivalent or superior to the original items ordered, with also a delay notice to the customer to let them know of the delay. California says that the brand Yeezy “repeatedly violated” this law, which was grounds for California to step in.

Many fans of West and the expensive Yeezy brand were upset about these long waiting times, especially if they were not given notice prior to expecting the delays. With the supply-chain crisis occurring in California’s ports as well, this continues to affect disruptions across the country and does not help Yeezy’s delays.

Some users complained that after waiting for their Yeezy items to arrive, they received the wrong thing they ordered or did not receive the correct size. Others complained that they have not even received items they bought over a month ago, with nothing to notify them of the status of what they purchased.

And this is not the first time…

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Kanye has dealt with a lawsuit regarding his shoe brand. In April, according to Insider, “retail giant Walmart filed a complaint to the US Patent and Trademark Office, arguing that Yeezy’s logo design looks too much like the retail giant’s logo.” Kanye and his team then responded that Kanye definitely did not want to do anything to copy Walmart, as their brands are entirely different. Then, Walmart was sued by Kanye for the knockoffs of his foam Yeezy shoes.

In regards to his shipping, though, the Yeezy website says “allow 2-3 business days for your order to process and 3-5 days to ship.” And, in the original lawsuit, there is no timeframe listed as being complained. Meaning, the delays could relate to the shipping delays most companies have been facing due to COVID-19. All in all though, even if Kanye were to be sued for tons of money for these shipping delays, it is possible it may not even affect him, as he makes up the top 1% of U.S households.
