Singer Maren Morris is waving the pride flag prouder than before, revealing her bisexuality in a recent Instagram post.
Currently on her RSVP Redux Tour, Morris posted photos from her show in Phoenix, Arizona, with the caption “happy to be the B in LGBTQ+ happy pride 🌈.” In a couple of the photos, she’s on stage waving a pride flag in front of the crowd. Comments are filled with fans well-wishing and praising Morris for coming out during Pride Month.

Morris is an outspoken supporter and advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, using her platform to speak out against proposed anti-LGBTQ+ legislation across various states. Speaking about those bills in an interview with Billboard in June 2023, she said, “I’m from Texas, I live in Tennessee, and I do love the community I have there, but these bills almost incentivize us to turn on one another.” She has also called out and challenged on other artists and record labels in the country music industry, “I would say to my peers who are artists and to record-label heads, publishers, songwriters: I don’t think any of us got into this art form to be an activist, but that’s ultimately thrust upon you to exist in this space and to feel like you can sleep at night.”
In September 2023, LA Times reported that Morris was considering leaving the genre, stating that she plans to release future music under Columbia Records, rather Columbia Nashville. However, later on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she clarified her comments when a fan asked to describe her new sound, saying she’s leaving the “toxic parts” of the country music industry.
It would turn out that 2023 had more changes in store for Morris, as she filed for a dissolution of marriage from singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd in October 2023 after five years of marriage. They share a young son together.
In December 2023, Morris posted a video of herself singing Tammy Wynette’s “D-I-V-O-R-C-E” on TikTok and then the divorce was settled and finalized in January.

In an interview with Billboard just in March, Morris reflected on what 2023 meant for her professionally and personally. She called it a year of letting go and is ready to move forward, “I’m going to sound so Pinterest, but I think just letting go. Or changeover. I feel like I’m on this precipice of massive, massive change. And the music’s certainly reflecting that.”
