The legendary entertainer Cher announced on Wednesday her upcoming release of a comprehensive two-part memoir, marking a significant milestone in her storied career.

HarperCollins Publishers described the memoir as a deeply personal account spanning over 70 years of Cher’s life, promising an intimate revelation of her experiences and achievements. The first volume, titled “Cher: The Memoir, Part One,” is slated to hit bookstores on November 19, 2024, followed by the second installment expected in 2025.

In the initial 480-page book, Cher will delve into her upbringing and her marriage to Sonny Bono, exploring what HarperCollins calls a “highly complicated relationship” that catapulted them to global fame before ultimately driving them apart. The memoirs are said to embody Cher’s characteristic honesty and humor, offering insights into her journey from a young girl with dreams to a trailblazing superstar who has dominated the Billboard charts across seven decades.

HarperCollins teased that Cher’s life story is too expansive to be contained in a single volume, hinting at the depth and breadth of her experiences that will be explored.

Cher first hinted at her memoir project in 2017 but revealed on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last year that she initially hesitated and postponed its completion. She admitted to holding back certain uncomfortable truths that needed to be included, vowing to return to the project with renewed determination.

During her late-night interview, Cher humorously acknowledged the enormity of the task, describing her life as too vast to condense into a single book and suggesting it could be akin to an encyclopedia given her extensive career and personal milestones.

Beyond her iconic partnership with Sonny Bono, Cher’s personal life included marriages to Gregg Allman, with whom she had a son, Elijah Blue Allman. Her son with Sonny, Chaz Bono, has also made his mark in the entertainment industry, further shaping Cher’s narrative as a mother and public figure.
