Whitney Leavitt, star of the reality series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, recently shared her aspirations for the show’s upcoming second season. In an interview on the Off the Vine podcast with Kaitlyn Bristowe on October 3, the 31-year-old, who is soon to be a mother of three, expressed her desire to be more authentic in her portrayal, especially after the dramatic events of the first season.

“I don’t want to feel like I need to have some calculated game,” Whitney said, addressing the tension that marked her interactions with the other women of MomTok in the first season. “If there’s animosity towards other women—which there is—I would love to sit down and figure out what that is.”

Throughout season one, viewers witnessed significant conflict between Whitney and her fellow cast members, which included Taylor Frankie Paul, Demi Engemann, Jennifer Affleck, Jessi Ngatikaura, Layla Taylor, Mikayla Matthews, and Mayci Neeley. The season ended on an ambiguous note when Whitney decided to officially leave MomTok, raising questions about her future with the group.

In reflecting on the challenges of the first season, Whitney acknowledged that being portrayed as a villain put her in a “dark place.” She noted, “During that time, I was going through so much, and when I watch it, I’m like, ‘Well, yeah, I was reacting that way because of [X, Y, and Z].’” Whitney emphasized that there were reasons behind her reactions, even if the context wasn’t fully presented on-screen. “Unfortunately, there was some context that wasn’t there as to why I made certain decisions or why I reacted that way, which doesn’t always make it right,” she added.

As she prepares for season two, Whitney has recognized the need for personal growth. “What I really learned from this last season is I just want to let go of what I can’t control,” she explained. She admitted that she took things too personally in the first season and hopes to approach future interactions with a more balanced perspective. “I can’t control what other women are gonna say or do, but I can control what I can control,” she stated.

In addition to Whitney’s personal journey, fans are eager to see how her relationships with the other cast members evolve. Season two, which was reportedly renewed on October 2, is expected to feature the entire cast from season one, though it remains unclear if any new members will join. Pre-production is already underway in Utah, according to Deadline.

The upcoming season may delve into unresolved storylines, such as the dynamics between Taylor and Dakota, and whether Jennifer will continue to participate in MomTok after relocating out of state. Whitney’s evolving relationship with the other women will likely be a focal point as the series continues to explore their lives and experiences.

As the series prepares to return, Whitney’s insights provide a glimpse into the challenges of navigating reality television. With her commitment to authenticity and personal growth, viewers can expect a more nuanced portrayal in the new season.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season one is currently available for streaming on Hulu, where audiences can catch up on the drama and dynamics that have captivated viewers. With season two on the horizon, the series promises to continue its exploration of the complexities of motherhood, friendship, and the pressures of social media within the context of the unique MomTok community.
