Jake Shane is officially taking his internet persona to television. The Therapuss host and TikTok creator will star in and executive-produce a new half-hour comedy for Hulu inspired by his own life. The project, now in development with 20th Television, was first reported by People on Nov. 5.

The show follows Shane as he plays a version of himself—a guy whose sudden online fame starts to shake up his friendships, relationships, and quiet suburban surroundings. It’s described as a 30-minute comedy in early development. Alec Berg (Barry, Silicon Valley), Amy Solomon, Genevieve Aniello, and Paul Briganti are attached as executive producers, with Briganti also set to direct.

Shane announced the news on Instagram, writing that it was “a dream come true with the team of my dreams… thank you.”

The 26-year-old first caught Hollywood’s attention after making his acting debut on Hacks. His podcast Therapuss with Jake Shane, launched in 2024, quickly became a hit thanks to high-profile guests like Kerry Washington, Hilary Duff, and Sofia Richie Grainge. Earlier this year, Shane won a Webby Award for Best Comedy Creator and landed a spot on Forbes’ list of top creators.

No release date or episode count has been announced, and Hulu hasn’t confirmed whether the show has been officially greenlit. For now, it remains in development as part of 20th Television’s growing slate of creator-led comedies, which includes Reboot.
