Shirley Raines, the founder and CEO of Beauty 2 The Streetz and a widely respected social media advocate known as Ms. Shirley, has died. She was 58.

Raines dedicated her life to serving unhoused communities, particularly in Los Angeles and Nevada, through Beauty 2 The Streetz, the outreach organization she founded and led. The group became known for its hands-on approach, providing meals, hygiene supplies, beauty services and direct support, with a focus on restoring dignity and human connection.

Through social media, Raines brought national and global attention to her work. Her videos documenting outreach efforts reached millions across platforms including TikTok and Instagram, helping reshape public perceptions of homelessness by centering empathy and visibility. Beauty 2 The Streetz amassed more than 1 million followers across social platforms, according to public metrics.

Raines’ advocacy earned widespread recognition. She was named CNN Hero of the Year in 2021, included on TIME’s TIME100 Creators list in 2025, and honored with the Outstanding Social Media Personality award at the 56th NAACP Image Awards Creative Honors.
According to reports from TMZ and other outlets, Raines was found unresponsive during a wellness check at her Nevada residence on Jan. 27. An autopsy is pending, and no cause of death has been released.
“This loss is devastating to the entire Beauty 2 The Streetz team, the communities we serve, and the countless individuals whose lives were forever changed by Ms. Shirley’s love, generosity, and selfless service,” the company shared in their statement.
The organization said Raines’ work and mission will continue and asked the public to keep her family and loved ones in their thoughts as further information becomes available.
