American YouTuber Johnny Somali has been sentenced to six months in prison by a South Korean court. The 25-year-old American influencer, whose real name is Ramsey Khalid Ismael, received a prison sentence for repeated acts of disturbing the public.
He sparked outrage in South Korea after kissing a statue that represents World War Two sex slaves.
Khalid has been known for his engaging, provocative, and disrespectful public stunts while traveling in Japan and Israel. Which has led to him being banned from several streaming platforms.
“The defendant repeatedly committed crimes against unspecified members of the public to generate profit via YouTube and distributed the content in disregard of Korean law,” the court said, according to South Korean media.
According to reports, prosecutors have also included allegations that Khalid is distributing sexual AI deepfake videos.
In Japan 2023, Kahlid was also detained for similar disruptive behavior and inappropriate remarks in South Korea, including wearing a MAGA hat to the court hearing.
