Andrew Garfield’s gritty Robin Hood story “The Uprising” is already available to watch at home. Universal and Focus Features released the Paul Greengrass film on digital platforms Sept. 29, less than three weeks after it opened in U.S. theaters.

You can rent or buy it now without a subscription. The 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD versions follow Nov. 3, along with a 4K Steelbook.

The fast turnaround comes after a rough box office run. “The Uprising” opened to about $3.3 million domestically and has earned roughly $7.8 million worldwide.

Garfield plays a plague-surviving ploughman who leads a rebellion against King Richard II in 14th-century England. The film never says Robin Hood’s name, but it draws on the real events that shaped the legend. The connection stayed mostly quiet until a trailer dropped a few weeks before release, and the film was briefly marketed in the U.S. as “The Uprising: The Rise of Robin Hood.”

It took a while to get here. The project was previously titled “The Rage,” and Matthew McConaughey was attached until he exited in May 2025, when Garfield stepped in.

Reviews have been mixed. Critics praised the performances and action sequences but knocked the bleak tone and Greengrass’ signature handheld camera work.
