Carla Jeffery, the actress who played cheerleader Bree across Disney’s “Zombies” franchise, died Sept. 1 at 33. Her longtime representatives at Alexanders Talent Management announced her death in a statement posted to her Instagram account the next day.
No cause of death has been released, and the agency did not say where she died. The statement asked that her family’s privacy be honored.
Alexanders Talent Management said Jeffery joined the agency at 12 and stayed for more than two decades, calling her “more than a client.” Her “Zombies” co-star Milo Manheim wrote in the comments that she was “the sweetest person I have ever met.” Chandler Kinney, who appeared with her in “Zombies 2” and “Zombies 3,” also posted a tribute.
Jeffery was born July 10, 1993, in Houston, and started working as a child actor. Her first film role came in the 2006 comedy “Phat Girlz,” playing a younger version of Mo’Nique’s character. She was the twin sister of actor Carlon Jeffery, known for Disney Channel’s “A.N.T. Farm.”
Her Disney Channel work began with guest roles on “Good Luck Charlie” and “Shake It Up,” followed by “Best Friends Whenever.” She was cast as Bree in the 2018 musical “Zombies” and returned for the 2020 and 2022 sequels, then voiced the character in the 2024 animated series. She attended the Hollywood premiere of “Zombies 4” in July 2025.
Outside Disney, Jeffery recurred as Keysha Black in 10 episodes of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” across its sixth and seventh seasons. She appeared in “iCarly,” “Southland,” “Suburgatory,” “Scream Queens,” “Uncle Buck” and “American Vandal,” and voiced the symbiote Mania in Marvel’s animated “Spider-Man” series in 2020.
