Meta wants its AI agent in your pocket, and it doesn’t want you reaching for your phone to use it.
At the Meta Connect 2026 keynote on Sept. 23, CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled Muse Charm, a handheld device built just for the company’s Muse AI agent, and said it should ship in time for the holidays.
The gadget came as a “one more thing” surprise at the end of the show. You tap a fingerprint sensor in the corner and start talking, with no phone to unlock and no app to open. A small animated avatar on the screen stands in for your Muse, and you can swap it out. Reuters reports a 2-inch touchscreen and built-in 5G. Zuckerberg pitched it as “by far the fastest way to talk to your Muse” for anyone not wearing smart glasses.
Meta didn’t share a price and still has to finalize the components before its target of shipping in December. Zuckerberg said only a few units exist so far. The device came out of Meta’s new design lab, led by former Apple interface design chief Alan Dye, working alongside its superintelligence AI group.
Charm is the latest piece of a fast-moving AI push. Meta Superintelligence Labs introduced its Muse Spark model in April, then added Muse Image and Muse Video.
The Muse agent app followed on Sept. 8, available in the U.S. only, handling background tasks like email, travel bookings, forms and purchases.

New Muse features include live video chat, real-time voice with custom voice options and a dedicated email address for each user’s agent. Walmart, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora and Wayfair signed on as retail partners, while Amazon has declined to let Muse in. Muse is also headed to Meta’s smart glasses, activated by a wake word, though Meta would only say “the coming months.”
Zuckerberg said Muse will be free for a large number of tokens, with Meta expecting to profit over time by taking a small cut of transactions.
On the hardware side, Meta VR Glasses led the keynote at roughly 100 grams and $1,299.99, going on sale in spring 2027. Meta also announced Ray-Ban Meta Audio, its first camera-free glasses, at $349, plus the third-gen Ray-Ban Meta at $449 and a Ray-Ban Display rollout to Canada, the UK, France, Italy and Germany.
