Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande just got a first look at the new Mattel dolls for ‘Wicked.’
The two, spotted on video with their reaction of the new releases, saw the first hand first look at the soon to be released dolls to the public.
Grande, reacted to the dolls saying things like ‘I need a moment.’ The figures are larger than the two expected and even sing.
Ariana Grande has announced as of late that she is shifting her focus exclusively to her role in the upcoming film adaptation of *Wicked*, temporarily stepping away from other projects.
On July 11, the 31-year-old pop star shared her decision with fans via Instagram Stories. “I love you all so much,” Grande wrote. “I have decided to put a temporary pin in all things that are not *Wicked* for now.” Grande’s commitment to *Wicked* comes as she prepares to portray Glinda the Good Witch in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical.
Grande, whose seventh studio album, ‘eternal sunshine’, was released in March, hinted at future plans despite her current focus. “Thank you in advance for understanding,” she continued in her post. “I am deeply grateful for your patience and, mostly, so inexplicably excited for all that is to come. There is so much. See you soon.”
The singer’s announcement follows her recent discussion about a possible tour. On the July 9 episode of the ‘Shut Up Evan’ podcast, Grande mentioned the idea of a “mini” tour or a “sampling of shows” related to her latest project. “I think it would be a really lovely idea to be able to trickle in some shows in between the two ‘Wicked’ films,” she said. “I think there’s a version of that that exists.”

Given Grande’s deep connection to her role as Glinda, it is understandable that she would prioritize this project above others. During a February interview with Zach Sang, Grande spoke about the significance of landing the role. “I have never wanted something as badly as I did this,” she said. Grande elaborated on the challenges she faced in taking on the role, explaining that she had to “deconstruct” her public persona. “I had to completely erase popstar Ari—the person that they know so well—because it’s even harder to believe someone as someone else when you’re so branded as one thing. I had to go all the way and strip that down.”
Grande’s dedication to the film adaptation of ‘Wicked’ reflects her commitment to delivering an authentic portrayal of Glinda. The film, directed by Jon M. Chu, is highly anticipated by fans of the musical and is set to be released in theaters on November 22, 2024.
In the meantime, Grande’s fans can look forward to seeing glimpses of her transformation into Glinda as the film’s release date approaches. Grande’s decision to focus solely on this project underscores her passion for the role and her desire to bring a new dimension to the beloved character.
As Grande continues her preparation for *Wicked*, her supporters can expect updates and behind-the-scenes content leading up to the film’s premiere. Grande’s choice to dedicate herself to this role highlights her commitment to her craft and her eagerness to embrace new challenges in her career.
