Pop star Britney Spears was pulled over by the LAPD for driving without her license and vehicle registration. Spears was fined for the incident this past September. The ticket cost $1,140, and was issued by the California Highway Patrol.
The singer has until October 24 to pay the fine. This date coincidentally bears plenty of significance for Spears, as it is the release of her upcoming memoir “The Woman In Me”, and her court appearance. Spears will likely not need to appear in court, as sources report that she likely does have her license and registration, only that she did not have it in the car.
Then hefty ticket comes after the singer was pulled over last year in 2022 for speeding, also in California. The singer reportedly purchased a new car amid the recent announcement of her divorce from Sam Asghari.
The New Car
Spears shared a post about her big purchase on Instagram last month, but deleted the post a few hours later.
The divorce comes after only a year of marriage. The couple married in June 2022, months after the singer was reportedly released from her decades long restrictive conservatorship. Spears was placed in the arrangement by her parents following a manic episode that led to her bipolar disorder diagnosis shortly after. Spears alleged that she was forced to perform, maintain an IUD as a form of birth control, and had restricted access to her two sons, who she shares with ex husband Kevin Federline.
The wedding was attended by numerous celebrities from different sectors of the entertainment industry. Given Spears’ high profile legal battle, fans of the star previously questioned Asghari’s motives for marriage.

Following the initial divorce confirmation, rumors of infidelity on behalf of both parties continue to surface. Additionally, many suspect that Asghari was in on the conservatorship, or somehow involved in controlling Spears’ life.
Social Media Reactions
Many fans hope that Spears does indeed have her license and registration, and look forward to the truths that her memoir could reveal about the past several years spent in the notorious conservatorship. Following the end of the legal agreement in 2021, Spears has been an outspoken critic of her family members’ handling of her mental healthcare, and the allegedly inhumane treatment she experienced.
Prior to the conservatorship, Spears was frequently chased by paparazzi at the peak of her pop music career, and endured a number of highly publicized breakups, including with Justin Timberlake.
It is unclear at this time just what the memoir could reveal, or what the outcome of the highway fine will be.
