Cardi B is officially stepping back into the spotlight. The Grammy-winning rapper has announced her long-awaited second studio album, Am I the Drama?, set for release on Sept. 19, 2025.

The announcement comes seven years after her debut album Invasion of Privacy, which earned widespread acclaim and commercial success. Since then, Cardi has remained a major figure in music and pop culture, though she has not released a full-length album, until now.

A Dramatic Return

Cardi B revealed the album title, artwork, and release date in a June 23 Instagram post to her 168 million followers. “AM I THE DRAMA? My new album is out September 19th! Preorder LINK IN BIO,” she wrote.

To accompany the reveal, Cardi dropped a cinematic teaser trailer, narrating a message that hints at personal transformation and empowerment. “I learned power is not given, it’s taken. I’m shedding feathers and no more tears. I’m not back, I’m beyond. I’m not your villain, I’m your karma. The time is here. The time is now,” she says in the voiceover.

What to Expect on Am I the Drama?

While the full tracklist has yet to be released, fans already know a few songs that will make the cut. Cardi confirmed that recent single “Outside,” widely seen as a pointed track aimed at her ex, will appear on the album. The single debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Apple Music chart.

Spotify also lists “Up,” her 2021 solo hit, and “WAP,” her 2020 viral collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, as part of the upcoming project. Cardi’s 2023 release “Enough (Miami)” may also be included, though it has yet to be confirmed.

In a nod to the challenges of coordinating features, Cardi hinted earlier this year that delays in the album’s rollout were due to waiting on collaborators. At one point, she joked that she’d sing the tracks herself if necessary.

A New Chapter

The album marks a new phase in Cardi B’s career and personal life. Beyond music, the rapper has stayed in headlines over the past several years for her high-profile relationship with Offset, legal matters, and her growing family.

Recently, she has been linked to NFL player Stefon Diggs, fueling speculation about a fresh romantic chapter. With Am I the Drama?, Cardi appears to be leaning into a more assertive, reflective persona, one that builds on her past while embracing a future on her own terms.

Fan Reactions

Fans quickly flooded social media with excitement over the news. On X (formerly Twitter), the hashtag #AmITheDrama trended within hours of the announcement. A major fan  exclaimed, “They are shaking I fear! Y’all thought she was shelved! She’s back!!Oh, she’s TAKING IT! Keep your foot on their necks!! Please include WAP, UP & Bongos as bonuses so it sells even higher!! It’s preordered!!”

“Oh the album is finally coming? We will be supporting!” one user wrote.
