Charlie Puth made a unique request for his wedding day: no music from his own catalog. The “One Call Away” singer, shared this insight during an appearance on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up on October 2, where he was promoting his Roku Original series, The Charlie Puth Show.

During the interview, Puth responded to a fan’s question about the celebrations surrounding his wedding to Brooke Sansone. The fan, Christian from Oklahoma City, inquired if the DJ played any of Puth’s songs at the reception. The artist quickly clarified his position.

“No, Christian. I specifically asked for no Charlie Puth music to be played at our wedding. That would embarrass me,” Puth said, explaining that some guests were initially disappointed by his request. “But I could tell that the band wanted to. They were, because we’re all musicians,” he added, noting the moment when the band playfully suggested playing his hit “See You Again.”

Puth humorously reenacted the scene, mimicking the band’s eagerness to play the song. “I got my drink in hand. I’m married. That’s the happiest I’ve ever been. And they’re all looking at me with their horns, like, ‘You want us to do a little ‘See You Again’ on the trumpet?’”

He further elaborated on the significance of “See You Again,” a collaboration with Wiz Khalifa that served as a tribute to actor Paul Walker in the Furious 7 soundtrack. “No, because that’s what everybody wants to hear at a wedding, ‘See You Again,’” he said, referencing its popularity.

Puth and Sansone exchanged vows on September 7 at his family home in Montecito, California. The wedding details were later confirmed in a post on Instagram on September 17. In a heartfelt message, Puth expressed his love for Sansone, stating, “I love you Brooke…I always have, with you I am my very best. I promise I’ll love you every day in this life, and even more when we move on to our next.”

The post featured a carousel of images from their wedding day, showcasing Puth and Sansone in stunning portraits. The final images depicted the couple surrounded by guests at their ceremony. Puth concluded his message by joyfully announcing, “Brooke Ashley Sansone, And now you’ll be Brooke Ashley Puth. Thank you for making me the happiest man alive. It has always been you.”

Puth and Sansone, 25, were first romantically linked in the summer of 2022. During a prior appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Puth revealed their shared New Jersey roots and family connections, hinting at a deep, longstanding bond between them.

Listeners of SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up, hosted by Nicole Ryan, Ryan Sampson, and Stanley T, can catch the show on weekday mornings on SiriusXM’s Hits 1. Puth’s recent comments reflect a blend of humor and sincerity that has become characteristic of his public persona.

A Celebration Beyond Music

While Puth may have opted for a day free of his own music, the joy of the occasion was palpable. The couple’s wedding was described by attendees as a beautiful celebration filled with love, laughter, and heartfelt moments, underscoring the importance of personal connections over commercial success.

In a world where many artists choose to showcase their music at significant life events, Puth’s choice to forgo his own hits in favor of a more personal atmosphere speaks volumes about his character. It highlights his desire to create a memorable experience for his loved ones, rather than focusing on his fame.

As the couple embarks on their new journey together, fans and followers are eager to see how this chapter unfolds for Puth, both personally and professionally. With his new series and a fresh start in married life, it’s clear that Puth is committed to balancing his career with his new role as a husband.
