Social Media Reactions
While most fans were grateful that Sheeran stopped to talk to those affected by the cancellation, others felt that the rescheduled date was not a great alternative. October 28 falls on Halloween weekend, which could be more expensive for out of town concertgoers to travel and book hotels.
As I understand Sheeran is not at fault but this screwed a lot of people. We're not some random city where everyone at the show lives. I'd guess half that crowd came in for the show and now they reschedule on Holloween weekend when prices will be even higher. Not great pic.twitter.com/a3mZ9xAEvD

Elsewhere, many reminded fans that the cancellation was not Sheeran’s fault, and that the show was cancelled for the safety of everyone involved. Coupled with the technical issues, the extreme heat could have led to more fans in the packed stadium requiring medical attention.
There seems to be a lot of confusion about what went wrong last night, but it's pretty clear that @edsheeran wasn't at fault. The cancellation was due to a safety issue, and all reports are that he was devastated for the fans who'd come out to see him. pic.twitter.com/9aKo1MHQvg

Others criticized the singer’s cancellation. Sheeran is known for hitting the mainstream music world through his intricate songwriting and “guy with a guitar” approach to folk music, which later branched into other genres. He began his career busking on the street in the U.K. and Ireland. Some felt that Sheeran needed to go back to his roots and play an all acoustic set amid the ongoing tech issues.
He could have taken that time to do an improvised show..Fans would have understood & been happy
