Ed Sheeran Poses For Photos With Fans After Sudden Las Vegas Concert Cancellation

Ed Sheeran‘s Las Vegas, Nevada concert was cancelled amid a sudden “flooring safety issue” and unprecedented heat. Some fans were rushed to receive medical attention amid the scorching temperatures. Despite the cancellation, the Grammy winning singer-songwriter stopped for photos with dedicated fans who braved the heatwave for a glimpse of Sheeran during soundcheck.

The singer is currently on his “–=÷x Tour”, named for his most recent four full-length albums. The concert was to be held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and was cancelled the night of. Tickets remain valid for the rescheduled date of October 28.

Social Media Reactions

While most fans were grateful that Sheeran stopped to talk to those affected by the cancellation, others felt that the rescheduled date was not a great alternative. October 28 falls on Halloween weekend, which could be more expensive for out of town concertgoers to travel and book hotels.

Elsewhere, many reminded fans that the cancellation was not Sheeran’s fault, and that the show was cancelled for the safety of everyone involved. Coupled with the technical issues, the extreme heat could have led to more fans in the packed stadium requiring medical attention.

Others criticized the singer’s cancellation. Sheeran is known for hitting the mainstream music world through his intricate songwriting and “guy with a guitar” approach to folk music, which later branched into other genres. He began his career busking on the street in the U.K. and Ireland. Some felt that Sheeran needed to go back to his roots and play an all acoustic set amid the ongoing tech issues.

What Sheeran Is Working On

Sheeran since shared that he surprised a couple by singing at their wedding. Several of his songs, including “Thinking Out Loud”, have become romantic wedding anthems. His debut album, “+”, recently had its 12 year anniversary as well. “+” is home to hits “Lego House”, “Give Me Love”, and “The A Team.”

The singer recently dropped his album “-“, the fifth installment of his mathematically inspired album titles, produced largely by longtime Taylor Swift collaborator and member of the The National Aaron Dessner. Swift and Sheeran first collaborated on her song “Everything Has Changed” for her “Red” album, leading to Sheeran opening her ensuing tour. Soon, Sheeran will release his latest body of work, “Autumn Variations”, on September 29.

The singer-songwriter is yet to comment further on the Las Vegas cancellation, and appears to be continuing his world tour’s North American leg.
