Flavor Flav has made headlines recently for his unexpected support of Red Lobster, the seafood chain that filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May. The rapper, known for his flamboyant style and hit singles, has become a vocal advocate for the restaurant, driven by his deep affection for its famed cheddar bay biscuits.
In a recent interview on SiriusXM’s show with Gayle King titled Gayle King in the House, King discussed Red Lobster’s financial recovery and Flavor Flav’s involvement. “They just made an announcement from Red Lobster saying that they’re one step closer to exiting Chapter 11 bankruptcy,” King reported, quoting a press release. “I don’t see your name on this press release, but I have to believe that you had something to do with this.”
Flavor Flav, grinning broadly, confirmed his involvement. “I stepped in and tried to help them out because one thing that I could say, Gayle, Red Lobster’s always been one of my favorite family restaurants since back in the ‘90s,” he said. “I’ve always been in love with their food, man. And mainly the biscuits. The biscuits!”
King responded with enthusiasm, “The cheddar biscuits, right?”
“Yes!” Flavor Flav exclaimed. “We gotta save the cheddar biscuits!”
Flavor Flav’s love for Red Lobster’s cheddar bay biscuits and the restaurant itself became widely known over the summer. In early June, he took to social media to show his support in a dramatic fashion. On June 3, he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) a photo of himself surrounded by tables laden with a full array of Red Lobster dishes. The rapper revealed he had ordered the entire menu and shared the feast with his family, emphasizing his commitment to helping the chain. “Ya boy meant it when I said I was gonna do anything and everything to help @redlobster and save the cheddar bay biscuits,” he wrote.
The impact of Flavor Flav’s actions was notable. About a month after his viral post, Red Lobster announced a special collaboration featuring Flavor Flav’s Faves, a curated meal available at locations nationwide. This special menu includes a Maine lobster tail, snow crab legs, garlic shrimp scampi, bacon macaroni and cheese, and a choice of one side.

Flavor Flav’s enthusiastic promotion appeared to contribute positively to Red Lobster’s situation. On September 5, the restaurant chain issued a press release stating that it had received court approval for its Chapter 11 plan. This development means Red Lobster is set to be acquired and will exit bankruptcy.
“This is a great day for Red Lobster,” said Damola Adamolekun, the future CEO of Red Lobster. “Red Lobster has a tremendous future, and I cannot wait to get started on our plan.”
Gayle King in the House airs Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m. ET on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy channel 102.
