The Golden Globes are officially returning in January 2026, with the 83rd annual ceremony set to take place on Sunday, January 11, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and Dick Clark Productions announced Thursday.

In a slight departure from tradition, the 2026 edition of the Globes will be held during the second weekend of January, instead of its usual early-month slot. The ceremony will be broadcast live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ across the United States.

Nikki Glaser Returns as Host

Comedian and television personality Nikki Glaser will return to the Globes stage as host for the second year in a row. Glaser, who made her debut as emcee at the 2025 awards, received widespread praise for her blend of sharp wit and Hollywood-savvy humor. Her return had already been confirmed in a March press release, but Thursday’s announcement locked in the ceremony’s full details.

“Hosting the Golden Globes this year was without a doubt the most fun I have ever had in my career,” Glaser said in a statement. “I can’t wait to do it again, and this time in front of the team from The White Lotus, who will finally recognize my talent and cast me in Season 4 as a Scandinavian Pilates instructor with a shadowy past.”

Glaser’s self-deprecating humor was a highlight of the 2025 show, which attracted an average of 9.3 million viewers according to Nielsen ratings — a slight dip from the 9.4 million viewers the show drew in 2024.

Beverly Hilton Remains Home of the Globes

As per tradition, the 83rd Golden Globes will be held at the iconic Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California — a venue long associated with Hollywood glamour and the annual awards season kickoff.

Nominations for the 2026 Globes will be announced on Monday, December 8. Additional information regarding the full awards season timeline, including the official submission deadlines and voting schedule, will be released in the coming months.

The ceremony continues to serve as the first major televised awards show of the year and is considered a key barometer for how the rest of the season — including the Oscars — might shape up. Uniquely, the Globes honor achievements in both film and television, offering a wider-ranging snapshot of the entertainment industry’s best and brightest.

CBS and Paramount+ Continue Multiyear Deal

The 2026 Golden Globes will mark the second installment in a five-year deal between CBS, Paramount Global, and Dick Clark Productions, signed in 2024. The agreement brought both the Golden Globes and the American Music Awards under CBS and Paramount’s banner, giving the media companies exclusive broadcasting rights through the end of the decade.

Dick Clark Productions, which is co-owned by Variety parent company PMC and Eldridge, remains the long-time producer of the Globes. The partnership aims to further elevate the awards show’s profile and keep it competitive in a landscape where ratings for live events have steadily declined in recent years.

A Competitive Awards Season Takes Shape

The announcement of the Globes’ 2026 date comes as the broader awards season calendar continues to take shape. With several major ceremonies now locked in, industry insiders are beginning to strategize their campaigns accordingly.

  • The 98th Academy Awards (Oscars) will take place on Sunday, March 15, airing live on ABC.

  • The 32nd Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards are scheduled for Sunday, March 1, and will be livestreamed on Netflix.

  • The Producers Guild of America (PGA) Awards will take place on Saturday, February 28.

Each event is expected to influence the momentum of awards contenders, and the Golden Globes — with their reputation for delivering unexpected wins and lighthearted moments — remain a pivotal event in that lineup.

Hollywood’s “Party of the Year”

Often referred to as “Hollywood’s Party of the Year,” the Golden Globes have maintained a distinct identity among awards shows. With a format that combines formal recognition with a looser, more celebratory tone, the event has often produced viral moments, surprising wins, and bold speeches that set the tone for the awards season ahead.

Over the years, the Globes have been both praised and criticized for their approach, but the show’s unique charm and industry influence remain undeniable.

As the entertainment industry continues to evolve amid new media platforms and global viewership shifts, the Golden Globes’ place in the cultural calendar remains as significant as ever.

What’s Next?

With Glaser back as host, CBS and Paramount+ committed to distribution, and a prime calendar spot in January, the 2026 Golden Globes is poised to continue its legacy as one of the most-watched and talked-about nights in Hollywood.

Nomination predictions, host performance speculation, and campaign buzz are all expected to ramp up in the weeks leading to December’s shortlist reveal. Until then, the entertainment world will keep a close eye on the Globes — and on Glaser’s potential debut as The White Lotus’ next eccentric character.
