Jaden Smith is a controversial celebrity for many people, but his latest act is something just about everyone can get behind.

The Hollywood star and son of actor Will Smith turned 21 on Monday, and celebrated with a special charity event on Skid Row, one of LA’s most poverty-stricken neighborhoods.

People lined up around the corner to get a taste of Jaden’s I Love You food truck, a restaurant-on-the-go serving vegan meals. Jaden gave away every bite of food for free.

@ILoveYouRestaurant Is A Movement That Is All About Giving People What They Deserve, Healthy, Vegan Food For Free,” Jaden posted on Instagram Monday. The musician intends to keep up the service going forward; I Love You closed down at the end of the day, but Jaden says this is “the first of many” such pop-ups.

A number of celebrities took to Instagram to praise Smith for his efforts in aiding people experiencing homelessness.

“This is so dope,” Hart commented. “I love what you are doing man.”

In May, Smith also joined a long list of celebrity investors to help fund a $300 million Series E round for Impossible Foods, which the plant-based company will use to increase production capacity of its Impossible Burger.

Smith, a vocal environmental advocate and lover of vegan pancakes, is committed to feeding the homeless the quality of food they deserve.

Homelessness is a growing problem in Los Angeles county, where it has risen 16% over last year across the city, according to a 2019 report from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.

Smith’s activism has become a staple of his career. In March he teamed up with a church group in Flint, Michigan to help deliver clean water to that community.
