Jennifer Lopez is staying connected with Ben Affleck’s children despite their ongoing divorce, a source tells PEOPLE. The singer and actress, who filed for divorce from Affleck in August, continues to maintain communication with his three children — Violet Anne, 18, Seraphina Rose, 15, and Samuel, 12 — whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
“Jennifer is doing well. She doesn’t dwell on the past,” the insider says, adding that Lopez is focused on moving forward. “She’s so grateful for everything that she has. The divorce is still being worked out.”
Despite the end of her marriage to Affleck, Lopez, 55, has remained supportive of the actor’s relationship with his children. The source emphasized that Lopez has continued to stay in touch with Affleck’s kids, and her family also has a positive relationship with them. “Jennifer keeps in touch with the Affleck kids. Her whole family loves them. She wants them to know that they can always reach out if they need anything at all.”
Lopez and Affleck’s relationship with each other’s children has been one of the central aspects of their highly publicized marriage and subsequent divorce. Although the couple had a whirlwind romance and rekindled their relationship in 2021, the breakup has not affected Lopez’s ongoing bond with Affleck’s children, as she continues to offer them her support.
The Unstoppable star’s commitment to the children also extends to their personal lives. Recently, Lopez’s sister, Lynda Lopez, was spotted visiting Affleck’s eldest daughter, Violet, at Yale University. Lynda shared a photo of their time together, captioning it, “New Haven with my favorite Yalie! 💙” as she posed with Violet at the prestigious university.
Lopez’s family dynamics, especially her relationship with her stepchildren, have been a source of interest for the public. Despite the challenges she has faced in her personal life, the singer is determined to maintain her connections and offer a supportive presence to Affleck’s children. The source reiterates that Lopez’s primary focus is on her family and finding peace following the divorce.
In addition to family matters, Lopez is preparing for the release of her new movie, Unstoppable, which has garnered attention in part due to her role in the wrestling biopic. Affleck, who has been a vocal supporter of his ex-wife, recently called her “spectacular” when discussing her work in the film.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Affleck shared his admiration for Lopez’s performance, noting the passion and dedication she brought to the project. “Jennifer is spectacular,” Affleck said, while also comparing Unstoppable to the film Small Things Like These, which he co-produced with Matt Damon through their production company, Artists Equity.
Although Unstoppable and Small Things Like These are very different films, Affleck drew a parallel between the two projects. “Unstoppable is a very different movie than this, but in a way, it is similarly rooted in the passion of really talented artists,” he explained. Affleck praised the film’s director, Billy Goldenberg, and its cast — including Lopez, Don Cheadle, Jharrel Jerome, and Bobby Cannavale — for their enthusiasm and dedication to the story.
The film is based on the true-life story of Anthony Robles, a wrestling champion born with one leg. Lopez plays Robles’ mother, Judy, a role that highlights the close relationship between the athlete and his family. Affleck added that the cast had the opportunity to meet Robles and his mother before filming, allowing them to gain insight into the heart of the story.
