Kanye West and Bianca Censori Accuse Dentist of Malpractice, Alleging Dangerous Use of Nitrous Oxide and Propofol

Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, are taking legal action against a Beverly Hills-based cosmetic dentist, alleging medical malpractice, unsafe distribution of controlled substances, and financial exploitation. The couple, recently confirmed to have reconciled after a reported separation, sent a formal notice of intent to sue Dr. Thomas Connelly, accusing him of serious ethical and medical violations while West was under his care.

The complaint, filed by the Golden Law Firm and signed by its president Andrew Cherkasky, details what it calls “a pattern of improper conduct” between 2024 and early 2025. According to the letter, Connelly administered nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” and the powerful anesthetic propofol to West in non-medical settings, including the couple’s private residence. The letter further alleges that Censori witnessed many of these events firsthand and was personally impacted.

“These actions were not isolated incidents,” the letter states. “They formed a continuous and escalating series of unsafe and unethical behaviors, often taking place in the couple’s home.”

The allegations also claim that Connelly provided West with large “surgical-size” tanks of nitrous oxide, along with masks and other paraphernalia, effectively enabling the rapper to self-administer the substance without any medical oversight. The couple contends that Connelly’s actions contributed to West developing a dependency on the gas, which exacerbated symptoms of cognitive and behavioral decline.

The rapper, who publicly disclosed a diagnosis of bipolar disorder in 2016, experienced erratic public behavior throughout this period, including controversial social media outbursts and bizarre public statements. One notable instance occurred during Super Bowl LIX, when West aired a self-shot commercial promoting his Yeezy brand. The ad, filmed on a smartphone, showed the rapper reclining in a dental chair, showing off diamond-encrusted teeth and joking, “I spent, like, all the money for the commercial on these new teeth.”

Following the ad, Yeezy’s website briefly listed a single item for sale: a black T-shirt bearing a red swastika, labeled “HH-01” — an apparent reference to Adolf Hitler. The shirt sparked outrage and further scrutiny of West’s behavior and decision-making at the time.

The legal complaint also accuses Connelly of administering propofol — the same anesthetic linked to the 2009 death of pop star Michael Jackson — outside of approved medical facilities. One alleged incident took place in a Las Vegas hotel, where West reportedly suffered “extreme mental and physical distress” that required urgent medical care. In another case, the letter claims West was discharged from Connelly’s care while still under the influence of the sedative, without proper medical evaluation or consent.

In addition to the medical allegations, the couple claims Connelly charged excessive fees, reportedly billing West approximately $50,000 per month for cosmetic dental procedures and related services. Cumulatively, they allege, the bills reached hundreds of thousands of dollars.

“On multiple occasions, you acknowledged in writing that your treatment of Ye was improper,” the letter reads. “In text messages and emails, you apologized to Ye and Ms. Censori and admitted you had made critical errors.”

Dr. Connelly markets himself as a premier luxury dentist for high-profile clients, with offices in Beverly Hills and Manhattan. His website states that “the world’s most influential men trust Dr. Thomas Connelly to craft their signature smiles.” However, his conduct is now under review. A request for comment sent to his practice on Thursday was not immediately returned.

This is not the first time the matter has drawn public attention. In August 2024, West’s controversial publicist Milo Yiannopoulos posted an affidavit accusing Connelly of endangering West’s mental health in order to manipulate him financially. Yiannopoulos alleged Connelly intended to “diminish Ye’s mental faculties so that Connelly and his business associates could extract millions of dollars from him.”

Yiannopoulos further claimed that Connelly installed West’s custom titanium prosthodontics and substituted lab-grown diamonds in place of the natural stones West had paid for. He also posted a screenshot of a text exchange in which Connelly allegedly agreed to deliver nitrous oxide tanks to the Chateau Marmont, despite staff objections about the risks involved.

Connelly has previously denied all accusations through a spokesperson, stating that the claims are “not only factually incorrect but intentionally misleading” and aimed at damaging his professional reputation.

West and Censori were recently seen together in Spain, sparking rumors of reconciliation after West hinted at a breakup in a song titled “Bianca,” released in April. Their publicist, Milo Yiannopoulos, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter this week that the couple remains married and has reconciled.

As of Thursday, no formal lawsuit has been filed, but the letter of intent signals that litigation is imminent. The California Dental Board has also reportedly been contacted regarding the allegations.
