The “Since U Been Gone” singer thought a fan was asking about a rumored rivalry between her and fellow singer Carrie Underwood on Watch What Happens Live and set the record straight. “People always pit us together,” she said while a guest on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen June 27, “and we don’t even know each other well enough to be pitted together.”
“Like literally, we’ve run into each other a handful of times,” Kelly continued. “There’s no beef between us. There’s nothing between us, like, we don’t know each other!”
The Watch What Happens Live fan was only asking what it was like to have Underwood on the Kelly Clarkson Show, but the “Breakaway” singer interpreted it differently.
“Look everybody always asks me the pitted against each other question,” Kelly explained. “But it was awesome! It was great to have her on the show.”
The 41-year-old singer also went on to express her frustration on how the two women are constantly compared to one another in the media as well.
“I don’t know why they do that,” she said. “They don’t do it with dudes! They only do it with females.”
At this time, Kelly is instead working on her relationship with her family due to her busy and packed schedule.
Clarkson shares her two children, River Rose and Remington Alexander, whom she shares with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
The American Idol alum said that they might even grow up to be like their mother.
“They both are little entertainers,” Kelly told E! News on June 22. “They love pretend. They love make believe and creating worlds.”
“They’re too young,” she continued, speaking to a possible future in entertainment. “But I think the coolest part is having the ability to give your kids the opportunity you didn’t have growing up. I think that’s the most incredible thing, just show them everything that you think might be helpful and see where they go.”
After her divorce back in March of 2022, the star is also happy to forgo dating and keeping things as is.
“I’m just enjoying me and I’m enjoying my children and I’m enjoying my work,” she explained. “I love what I’m doing right now. And I am a little hesitant, because stepparent situations aren’t always great for everyone, or even having another person involved.”
