Megan Thee Stallion shut down rumors that she and Justin Timberlake had a fiery exchange backstage at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. Fans saw one viral video where it appeared that Megan simply was not having something that was said to her.

In case you missed it, fans went into a frenzy when they saw a video of the “Bongos” singer get into what appeared to be a heated exchange as the members of *NSYNC passed by her backstage.

People online were very confused at the situation after some claimed it was Joey from the group who talked back to her in the video, and many had their own theories. But many were actually wrong.

Megan later took to TikTok to explain what really happened backstage claiming “I just talk with my hands” in the caption. Sources stated the two took the video at a VMA afterparty at TAO Downtown in the Skybox private dining room and were both partying the night away until after 2:00 AM.

After a large amount of news picked up following the viral video, many sources attempted to set the record straight.

One source spoke with Page Six stating “Meg loves Justin. She was saying, ‘No, no, no, we’ve never met before.’ It was their first time meeting, and she was excited.”

Another source also stated that Megan simply wanted the chance to talk to Justin Timberlake even more than just a brief exchange backstage.

Megan attended the award ceremony to promote her new single alongside Cardi B. Meanwhile Timberlake reunited with his *NSYNC bandmates, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone amid rumors they were collaborating on a new project.

Aside from this so called ‘heated exchange,’ viewers saw a wide set of performances at the VMAs. The lineup of stars included people like Olivia Rodrigo performing some of the hit songs for her album ‘Guts’, Shakira accepting the award for Video Vanguard with a crowd surfing performance, and Taylor Swift taking home multiple wins throughout the night.

Swift tied the record for the most award wins in one single night as well.

Fans also could not get enough of Swift and her reactions to every single performer on screen. The night was full of big wins and performances that she and other members of the crowd could not get enough of.
