A recently resurfaced clip of Bieber making a disgusted facial expression when Taylor Swift was mentioned was the latest to go viral. Actress, musician, and now makeup entrepreneur Selena Gomez was previously in a highly publicized relationship with Justin Bieber for several years. A few months after their breakup, Bieber married his now wife, Hailey Baldwin. Gomez has remained quiet about the situation for years, and only recently discussed her relationship with Bieber’s toll on her mental health in her documentary My Mind and Me.

While the pair have attempted to bury the hatchet that fans had placed on them multiple times, new clips and mysterious hints on Bieber’s social media keep adding fuel to the fire. Following the release of Gomez’ documentary, which revealed her diagnosis with bipolar disorder and discussed her previous struggles with mental health and lupus, Bieber posted a video alongside Kendall Jenner and Justine Skye lip synching to an audio that said “god’s timing is always right.”

The video was quickly deleted after is sparked online backlash about its perceived insensitivity to the vulnerability of Gomez’ documentary. This all came after Bieber and Gomez posed for a photo together at the annual gala for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in October 2022. The photo was praised for its positive underlying message of women supporting women. Many Gomez fans and onlookers alike feel that Bieber continued to instigate the situation long after the pair appeared to publicly make amends at this event.
