Pedro Pascal delivered a weekend packed with emotional highs, both on screen and on the red carpet.

The fan-favorite actor returned to HBO’s “The Last of Us” season 2 episode 6, in a surprise flashback episode that immediately went viral for its emotional weight. Though Pascal’s character, Joel, was killed early in the season, the new episode served as a powerful send-off. It featured a tender conversation between Joel and Ellie that explored their evolving bond, unspoken grief, and a moment of affection that left fans reaching for tissues.

Fans, who have missed Joel since his early exit, were especially moved to learn this was Pascal’s final day on set. The cast and crew gave him a send-off that echoed the emotion of the episode itself.

While Joel’s arc has ended, Pascal’s impact on the series remains central. His character and performance is the heartbeat that fans keep coming back to.

That same week, Pascal stole the spotlight at the Cannes Film Festival while promoting his new film “Eddington,” where he will be starring alongside Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and an all-star ensemble. Wearing a sleeveless Calvin Klein look, Pascal posed for photographers, blew kisses to fans, and charmed audiences with his signature mix of cool and sincerity.

Beyond the glamor, Pascal used his Cannes platform to speak out on political issues. During a press conference, he emphasized the importance of storytelling and expression amid social unrest in the United States.

“Fear is the way that they win,” Pascal said. “So keep telling the stories, keep expressing yourself, and keep fighting to be who you are.”

Pascal also reflected on his family’s history of fleeing dictatorship in Chile and seeking asylum in Denmark before settling in the United States.

“I stand by those needing protection, always,” he said.
