Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers Seriously Address Charlottesville Rallies
Fallon fought back tears as he acknowledges his Tonight Show audience regarding the white power rallies in Charlottesville over the weekend, opening up by saying “Even though The Tonight Show isn’t a political show, it’s my responsibility to stand up against intolerance and extremism as a human being”. Jimmy Fallon continues onwards to discuss Charlottesville, calling what happened disgusting and discussing the feeling he has that he might have to describe the hate of the world to his daughters. Jimmy Fallon then had harsh words for President Trump due to his disgustingly dragging his feet on denouncing white supremacy. This is a very welcome change for Jimmy Fallon who famously got critiqued for ruffling Donald Trump’s hair on the Tonight Show during his hateful campaign. All in all, an inspiring message, made to stand out even more due to the host’s famous reluctance to discuss politics.
Seth Meyers who has been criticizing Donald Trump and the alt right for the meat of his late night career had words equally harsh, jumping right in to how Donald Trump attempted to blame the far left for the violence that he himself helped fan on. Seth Meyers went even a step beyond Fallon and pointed out each and every act of supporting white supremacy that the president has done. He then followed it up with one of his famous and brilliant “Closer Looks” which took a more joke dense view of the difficult issues.
