Disney World has been closed since the COVID lockdown began, and it has just opened back up. Stick with us to find out what’s different now!

Disney World decided to open up its parks while coronavirus cases continue to rise in the country, especially in Florida. But if you do go, it won’t be like a normal Disney trip. All guests have to reserve tickets ahead of time before going to the parks. Guests are required to get a temperature check before entering and have to wear a mask at all times. Workers are wiping down and cleaning rides often, and there are markings on the ground to make sure that people keep a safe distance away from each other. Even characters are keeping their distance.

There are no meet and greets and characters are keeping their distance from guests by waving from rooftops and balconies. Even in those costumes, they’re got to stay 6 feet away from people! Disney has also canceled all parades and nighttime spectaculars, so you may have to wait for your next trip to see the firework shows. And the makeovers at Disney Spas and Boutiques are all still unavailable – most Disney experiences besides the rides are being postponed to avoid close contact.

Some might be happy that the parks are opening back up, but others are reminding everyone that coronavirus isn’t going away anytime soon. Someone tweeted, “When New York hit 10,000 cases a day they went on lockdown. When Florida hit 10,000 cases a day they opened Walt Disney World.” This is true, it seems like a lot of people are acting like the pandemic is over, when a lot of states are rising in cases as we saw back in April.

Someone else said, “Florida just had the state’s single-day increases in Covid-19 cases. All Central Florida Hospitals are out of ICU beds. The death toll has passed 4,200. And Disney decided this was a perfect day to reopen the parks!? This will not end well!” Even though so many precautions have been put into place, like temperature checks and hand sanitizer stations, this doesn’t seem like the best time for Disney World to start letting the public back into the parks.

A YouTuber is getting backlash for vlogging and going to the parks even though she was complaining about a sore throat and feeling sick. She said it wasn’t COVID, but refused to get tested. This shows that even if Disney has great precautions for guests, people will leave their house and go to public areas even if they are sick. On a similar note, the Disneyland park in Hong Kong reopened in June but is now closing again. This closure came from the increase of cases after they reopened.

Maybe this will happen in Florida, but who knows. Stay safe everyone! And you really don’t need to go to amusement parks during a pandemic, so don’t do it.
