Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Rauw Alejandro dropped a new song dedicated to his recently ex fiancé, fellow musician Rosalía. The track, titled “Hayami Hana”, was posted on YouTube. Reports emerged last month that the pair of artists had broken up after roughly four years together. The Spanish-language artists reached international recognition during their time together, and collaborated on a number of songs.

Shortly after the artists’ breakup was confirmed to the press, rumors emerged that Cuban-American pop artist Camila Cabello was dating Rauw. The rumors emerged months after Cabello appeared to break up with Canadian pop singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes for the second time. The reports were eventually declared false by a representative for Cabello, but stirred the social media pot regardless. Soon, fans of Rosalía began to circulate theories about Alejandro cheating on her and ending the relationship.

In “Hayami Hana”, the singer attempts to set the record straight. Rauw claims that Rosalía always had the password to his phone and that he was never a cheater. He also reminds listeners that he still has a tattoo of her name, and that “leaving was never an option for him”. In the same breath, he lists out her “flaws”.

The rap infused slowed down track is receiving viral reactions.

Many fans of both artists are still disappointed that the powerful pair split. They notably made numerous fashion-coordinated red carpet appearances and powerful performances together.

Others feel that the world did not need to see this apparently deeply personal message. Some continue to believe that the track serves as an overcompensating gesture to attempt to make up for alleged cheating.

Rolling Stone writer Tomás Mier criticized the track, much to the joy of Rosalía fans.

Neither Rosalía nor Rauw have confirmed the exact reason for the split, though the lyrics to the latter’s latest song appear to offer some clues. The pair have both found themselves thrust into the international spotlight and tumultuous schedule of touring, which Rauw seems to think split them apart.

Rosalía wrapped up her “Motomami” tour with Lollapalooza’s Paris stint, delivering an emotional speech that fans associated with her breakup.

Both musicians are reportedly single, but do not shy away from discussing each other in their respective songs. Rauw’s track is yet to hit streaming services at this time.
