Selena Gomez shut down any idea of “Single Soon” being about her former man The Weeknd.
The 33-year-old actress and singer came across the speculation that her song was about the “Blinding Lights” singer as of late.
“Couldn’t be more false,” she responded to a HollywoodLife Instagram post about the fan speculation.
Gomez and The Weeknd dated for roughly 10 months before calling it quits in the same year. Even though they have been apart for roughly six years, some thought the track called to her ex. With the lyrics including “And the weekend’s almost here,” many indeed thought she was subtly calling him out.
“I don’t wanna see a tear” seems to echo Tesfaye’s 2020 smash “Save Your Tears,” which was also rumored to be about Gomez.
The Weeknd’s show The Idol was rumored to be about his former girlfriend with many fans also chiming in saying it mirrored similar components of her life. Yet, many were also quick to shut this down saying that the storyline was something can happen in the music industry overall.
Regardless of who the track may be about, fans were more than happy to hear the bop from the Only Murders in the Building star.

One of those fans is none other than Taylor Swift, Gomez’s fellow pop star and longtime BFF. “WHEN UR BESTIE IS THE BESTEST,” Swift wrote on her Instagram Story, sharing a clip from the “Single Soon” music video. “WILL BE DANCING TO THIS FOREVER METHINKS.”
Gomez has yet to announce any other music coming up. The artist was spotted as of late with her former BFF and Kidney donor Francia Raisa at Georgio Baldi in Los Angeles. The two had allegely made amends in their friendship over the years and even poked fun at the put to rest feud with posts online.
