The animated phenomenon “Skibidi Toilet,” known for its explosive popularity on platforms like YouTube and Roblox, is now poised to expand into television and film, according to director Michael Bay and former Paramount Pictures president Adam Goodman. In an exclusive interview on Variety’s “Strictly Business” podcast, Goodman discussed their plans to transition the quirky internet sensation into long-form content.
“We are currently in talks for both television and early discussions for the film adaptation,” Goodman revealed. He emphasized that while exploring these avenues is exciting, it’s not the definitive path forward for the project.
The rise of “Skibidi Toilet” began modestly on February 7, 2023, when creator Alexey Gerasimov uploaded an 11-second video titled “skibidi toilet” to his YouTube channel, DaFuq!?Boom!. The surreal premise, featuring a singing head emerging from a toilet, quickly captured global attention. Since then, Gerasimov has expanded the concept into over 70 short episodes depicting an escalating conflict between Toilets and Cyborgs, devoid of dialogue yet filled with explosive action.
Goodman, now leading the independent studio Invisible Narratives with Bay, likened the potential of “Skibidi” to major franchise successes like “Transformers” and the Marvel universe. He highlighted the upcoming merchandising efforts as a precursor to larger content expansions, indicating a strategic move to establish the brand beyond its digital origins.
Collaborating closely with Gerasimov and production designer Jeffrey Beecroft, Bay and Goodman aim to elevate the production quality of “Skibidi” content for potential film and television adaptations. Goodman hinted at a stylistic approach reminiscent of successful hybrid films like “John Wick” and “District 9,” underscoring their ambition to blend animated and live-action elements.
The decision to explore broader media formats reflects a trend where digital-native properties seek to capitalize on their online success in traditional entertainment markets. From YouTube stars securing TV deals to viral franchises transitioning to theaters, the move represents a natural progression for properties with significant online followings.
Invisible Narratives has adopted a unique strategy of fostering community engagement with the “Skibidi” IP, allowing numerous creators to develop content inspired by the series. This approach contrasts with traditional IP protection strategies, aiming to amplify the brand’s reach and influence across various platforms.

On platforms like Roblox, “Skibidi Toilet” has spawned a multitude of fan-created games, further solidifying its status as a cultural phenomenon among Generation Alpha. With millions of plays and a robust fan base contributing through fan art, merchandise, and even fan fiction, “Skibidi” continues to resonate deeply within its online community.
As the project progresses towards potential film and TV adaptations, Goodman and Bay remain optimistic about the future of “Skibidi Toilet,” envisioning it as a groundbreaking entry into mainstream entertainment driven by its grassroots digital origins.
