Taylor Swift’s work ethic never goes out of style. In between sold out tour dates across the country for “The Eras Tour,”the multi-Grammy winner has been sneakily making trips to the legendary Electric Lady Studios in New York City.
Now, fans are speculating that the studio stops have been a part of the re-recording of her “1989” album, and that one track could feature fellow Grammy winner Harry Styles.
Recently, Swift announced the re-record of her 2010 album “Speak Now.” The album is the third that Swift re-recorded from her lengthy catalogue. The re-releases come after music tycoon Scooter Braun purchased Swift’s original masters without her consent in 2019. Days ago, Swift was seen leaving the West Village studio alongside rumored boyfriend and potential music collaborator Matty Healy of the 1975.
The 1975 are known for their synth pop influences, many of which were present on Swift’s “1989” album, furthering suspicions that the project is next on Swift’s list of re-records.
Acclaimed record producer Jack Antonoff and his fiancé actress Margaret Qualley, Florence Welch of Florence and The Machine, Kendrick Lamar, Gracie Abrams, and more were also at the studio. Fans took note specifically of Lamar’s appearance. The Pulitzer winning rapper was once featured on a remixed version of “Bad Blood” from Swift’s “1989” album. The group’s presence at Electric Lady had many local onlookers suspect that the gathering was a wrap party for the production of “1989” Taylor’s Version.

Why Fans Think “1989” Could Feature Harry Styles
Styles and Swift were in a relationship between 2012 and 2013, when Styles was still a member of world famous boy band One Direction. Listeners have long alleged that the pair has each inspired several of each others’ songs.
Styles’ track “Two Ghosts” from his debut eponymous solo album references “same lips red, same eyes blue,” which has long been thought to be a Swift reference. On the other hand, the aptly named “Style” on Swift’s “1989” is rumored to be about the singer’s relationship with Styles, not only because of its name, but because of descriptions. The lyrics describe a man with “long hair, slicked back, white t shirt/and I got that good girl faith and a tight little skirt.” Styles’ long hair and Swift’s miniskirts were style staples for each of them during their early 2010s relationship.
Swift and Styles never wrote outwardly negative lyrics about their relationship. The pair even reunited at the Grammys for the past two years, with Swift congratulating Styles on winning Album of The Year in 2023. Fans of both artists applauded their friendly interaction.
Given what appears to be a respectful music relationship between exes, fans have long held out hope that Styles would offer vocals to the re-recorded version of “Style.” Now, a screenshot of a trademark allegedly filed for the track under both of their names is making waves across social media.
