Timothée Chalamet Makes Surprise Visit to NYC Alma Mater, Inspires Students and Reunites with Former Teachers

Actor Timothée Chalamet made a surprise visit to his alma mater, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, on April 23, 2025, engaging with current students and reconnecting with former teachers. The 29-year-old actor, known for roles in films such as Call Me by Your Name and Dune, spent time with students in the Career Management class, offering advice and sharing insights into his acting journey. The school expressed gratitude for Chalamet’s visit, highlighting the impact of his words on aspiring actors.

In addition to his visit to LaGuardia High School, Chalamet recently starred as Bob Dylan in the biopic A Complete Unknown, which explores Dylan’s early years in New York City and his rise to fame during the 1960s. Directed by James Mangold, the film features Chalamet performing Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall” and includes appearances from Edward Norton as Pete Seeger and Monica Barbaro portraying Dylan’s girlfriend, Joan Baez. The movie is set to debut in theaters on December 25, 2024.

As part of his preparation for the role, Chalamet retraced Dylan’s early life by visiting cities significant to the musician’s history, including Hibbing, Minnesota. During his visit to Hibbing High School, Chalamet met with drama students and shared insights about acting and theater. The school’s drama department described the experience as enriching and memorable, highlighting Chalamet’s generosity in mentoring the next generation of performers.

Chalamet’s visits to both LaGuardia High School and Hibbing High School underscore his commitment to supporting and inspiring young artists. By engaging with students and sharing his experiences, Chalamet continues to make a positive impact on the future of the arts.
