Tom Kenny is hoping that one day SpongeBob and Patrick can be a host for one of the biggest award shows one day.
While speaking to What’s Trending at Nickelodeon’s at The Krabby Patty Kollab Kickoff, an event that brought SpongeBob SquarePants’ iconic Krabby Patty into the real world in celebration of the series’ 25th anniversary, the voice actor noted, “Well you know the amazing thing about Spongebob is that there is always some new wrinkle coming just when I start to go ‘I think we’ve done everything that Spongebob can do. Then they’re like, ‘you’re doing the Super Bowl.”
However, the latest collaboration adventure for the sponge includes started Tuesday, Oct. 8 with select restaurants, chefs, and celebrities will showcase their culinary talents by offering fans the chance to sample a variety of dishes inspired by the secret recipe from Bikini Bottom. The offerings will include dumplings, falafel, burgers, doughnuts, ice cream, and more, all creatively interpreted.
Thinking about what could come next, Kenny noted “I think if Spongebob and Patrick can host the Oscars, that would be great.”
Nickelodeon and Paramount are celebrating the 25th anniversary of “SpongeBob SquarePants” with an extensive lineup of special programs and festivities set include the premiere of a brand-new one-hour special titled “Kreepaway Kamp.” In this episode, SpongeBob and his friends reunite at Kamp Koral, only to find themselves stalked by a mysterious figure as campers begin to disappear one by one. “Kreepaway Kamp” is scheduled to air on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ in the United States, with additional releases planned for other territories later in the year.
