Well folks, the Grammy nominations are in, and we are delighted to see the results. Some snubs, some people who we are genuinely happy to see, and more. You can read through the full list here. But here are some of our thoughts!

Album of the Year and Record of the Year have a lot of exciting mentions. Cardi B has a nomination in both, and Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper have gotten a nomination in the latter category, along with the brilliant Childish Gambino. Janelle Monae and Kendrick Lamar’s Black Panther album both have a very welcome place on the Album of the Year competition, and here’s hoping All The Stars does well in its Record of the Year category.

All The Stars also has a place on the nominees in the Song of the Year category, along with Donald Glover’s incredible “This is America” and Drake’s “God’s Plan”. It’s a tight race with a lot of incredible entrants, including Lady Gaga’s “The Shallow”. Man, what a good year for music it’s been.

Best New Artist includes Chloe x Halle, Luke Combs, Greta Van Fleet, H.E.R., Dua Lipa, Margo Price, Bebe Rexha and Jorja Smith. Critics have pointed out that there has been a dearth of rappers on the New Artist list, and here is hoping that next year’s list makes up for this error.

But let’s just go to my favorite category, okay? Questlove is up against Jimmy Carter for the Best Spoken Album category for the audio book reading of their respective tomes. Both men are up against TIffany Haddish and David Sedaris for this category! Come on, Jimmy Carter! I believe in you! Carter! Carter! Carter! Carter! Jimmy!
