  • Facebook users have been in the grip of fear, warning each other of a fake user account named Jayden K Smith that will instantly hack your account if you accepted their friend request, and of course, like everything else on Facebook, it was a complete a total waste of everyone’s time.

Facebookers have been forwarding the following very dumb message message to everyone in their friend list.

“Please tell all the contacts in your Messenger list, not to accept Jayden K. Smith friendship request. He is a hacker and has the system connected to your Facebook account. If one of your contacts accepts it, you will also be hacked, so make sure that all your friends know it. Thanks. Forwarded as received.”

Ugh, great! Another forward! I really thought I would be done with forwards after 15 years of emails, but no… I guess it’s pointless to even say, but yeah! Jayden K Smith is fake! A hacker can’t hack you through just a friend request! Heck, if he was that good he probably wouldn’t even need the request! Snopes debunked it handily, saying —

Snopes writes: The most common variant of this hoax is one that warns the reader not to accept Facebook friend requests from “hackers” purportedly named “Christopher Davies” and “Jessica Davies,” otherwise one of the two will wreak some unspecified havoc by being able to “FIGURE OUT UR COMPUTER’S ID AND ADDRESS.”

But come on guys. You’re a What’s Trending reader! You certainly did not get fooled by this, right?
