Those Three Boys Listening To Boygenius At Coachella Finally Connected With The Band

At Coachella, indie-rock supergroup Boygenius reunited onstage for the first time in several years. The band, composed of  Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus, notably released their first full length-album, “The Record” recently. The group continues to pen emotionally impactful tracks with lilting harmonies.

Boygenius tends to write about the experiences of women and the LGBTQ+ community. the group’s name takes a jab at the male-dominated indie rock music scene. When someone posted a video of three young men getting really into the musical stylings of Boygenius on social media, it immediately went viral among fans. Many were surprised to see the band’s music resonating with a new audience. The video depicts the boys bopping to the track “Salt In The Wound,” off the group’s eponymous EP.

Commenters were quick to make pop culture references about the three distinct reactions to Boygenius’ music. One TikTok creator named Anna Marie Aitken (@annamarieaitken) wrote “Schmidt, Nick, and Winston,” in reference to the three roommates on Fox’s hit comedy “New Girl.” Another referenced astrology, saying that the boys at Boygenius were their “sun, moon, and rising.”

Social Media Reactions

The band is known to have humorous interactions with fans online. Hence, the comments were flooded with “Boygenius needs to see this.” And see it they did. Eventually, the clip made its way from TikTok to Twitter, where Bridgers and Dacus are particularly active. One of the boys in the video, named Haj (@21_savhaj) revealed himself, nicknaming himself “babushka boy.” Dacus responded to his tweet, writing “oh we love you.”

Bridgers additionally reposted Haj’s tweet about his experience during the band’s set, after sharing it to her Instagram story.

Viewers are celebrating the wholesome nature of the video, and appreciating live music’s big return since COVID-19.

Another user found one of the boys, named Gersten’s, Spotify profile, recognizing that he was a musician himself. Fans are hopeful Boygenius will invite him onstage at some point during their upcoming tour.

While the identity of the last of the three boys remains a mystery, one thing rings true–that the group are all true blue fans.
