Alex Cooper Docuseries ‘Call Her Alex’ to Premiere at Tribeca Before Hulu Debut

Alex Cooper, the influential creator and host of the popular podcast Call Her Daddy, will soon take center stage in a new docuseries titled Call Her Alex. The two-part series, produced by Unwell Productions, will premiere June 8 at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival before its streaming debut on Hulu on June 10.

Directed by Ry Russo-Young, best known for the acclaimed HBO docuseries Nuclear Family, Call Her Alex will chronicle Cooper’s rise from a young, self-described “self-conscious kid” in Pennsylvania to one of the most powerful female voices in digital media.

According to the official synopsis, the documentary follows Cooper in the lead-up to her first live tour and explores her formative years, her initial struggles, and her meteoric career ascent. It also delves into the personal moments that have shaped her along the way—from her early podcasting days to becoming the CEO of her own production company, Unwell.

“I’ve shared my life with the Daddy Gang since I started Call Her Daddy — but this documentary series takes it even deeper,” Cooper said in a statement. “It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the moments that shaped me — the raw, the messy, the personal stuff I’ve never felt comfortable sharing until now. My hope is that by bringing people along for this part of my journey, they’ll feel both more connected to my life and more empowered in their own.”

The docuseries is executive produced by Russo-Young, Braden Bochner, and Christopher Foss, with Holly Siegel credited as producer. Hulu acquired the project in a deal negotiated alongside Lionsgate, representing Unwell Productions.

Cooper first gained national attention in 2018 when she co-founded Call Her Daddy under Barstool Sports. The podcast quickly developed a devoted following for its unfiltered conversations around sex, relationships, and mental health—often delivered with a sharp blend of humor, vulnerability, and candor.

In 2021, Call Her Daddy made headlines once again when Cooper signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Spotify, reportedly worth $60 million. The move marked a turning point, both for Cooper and the broader podcasting industry, positioning her among the highest-paid podcast hosts in the world.

Then in 2024, Cooper solidified her influence even further by signing a historic multiyear deal with SiriusXM valued at $125 million. The agreement not only included continued distribution of Call Her Daddy but also expanded her brand into new audio and video content under the Unwell banner.

In Call Her Alex, viewers will get an unprecedented look at how Cooper built her empire—often navigating public scrutiny, personal setbacks, and the pressure of being a young woman at the top of a male-dominated industry. The series includes archival footage, interviews with close friends and collaborators, and never-before-seen moments from Cooper’s private life and professional journey.

The Tribeca Film Festival debut marks a significant milestone in Cooper’s evolving career. Tribeca, which has long spotlighted cutting-edge voices in film and television, will offer Cooper a new platform to share her story with both fans and critics alike.

The documentary also represents a broader cultural moment. As podcasting continues to mature as a medium, figures like Cooper are becoming more than just hosts—they’re influential entrepreneurs shaping the future of entertainment. Her journey reflects a shift in how young creators, especially women, are leveraging digital platforms to build loyal communities and long-term careers.

In recent years, Cooper has also used her platform to tackle more serious topics, including therapy, grief, and empowerment. Her guests have ranged from celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Hailey Bieber to subject matter experts in mental health and relationships, helping expand the scope and impact of Call Her Daddy.

As Cooper enters this next chapter, Call Her Alex appears to be both a retrospective and a fresh beginning. For fans of the podcast—known collectively as the “Daddy Gang”—the series promises an intimate, unfiltered look at the woman behind the mic. For those unfamiliar with her work, the documentary could serve as a compelling introduction to one of the most transformative figures in modern media.
