Kelly Clarkson Encourages Lindsay Lohan To Return to Music

Fans of Lindsay Lohan may see new music coming soon after Kelly Clarkson encouraged the star on her show.

During her appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show alongside Ayesha Curry to promote their new Netflix film Irish Wish, Clarkson asked Lohan if she would ever consider coming back to music.

“Uh, I don’t know,” said the Mean Girls actress, 37, with a laugh.

Clarkson, 41, released her second album titled Breakaway back in 2004, the same year Lohan released her debut album Speak.

Clarkson stated, “I feel like we were at the same time in a certain part of our career, so I was like, ‘Oh man… I wonder if she’s gonna come out with more music.’ Anyway, you should,” said the American Idol alum.

“Thank you. Appreciate that,” said Lohan, who later added of her sister Aliana, “But my sister’s singing, so I’m supporting her right now.”

Lohan notably starred in iconic films like The Parent Trap and Life-Size, and went on to launch her music career with her lead single “Rumors.”

The song went gold in the United States and even earned a MTV Video Music Awards nomination.

The album hit No. 4 on the Billboard 200 at the time and sold over one million units stateside.

She released a follow-up album in 2005, A Little More Personal (Raw), which spawned a Billboard Hot 100 hit single with the vulnerable ballad “Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father).”

Years later, Lindsay released a one-off single titled, “Bossy” before taking a break from music. In 2020, the star came back with songs “Back to Me” and even a cover of “Jingle Bell Rock” in 2022 for the Netflix film Falling for Christmas.

Throughout the Irish Wish press cycle, she’s spoken multiple times about the idea of returning to music and recently gave Entertainment Tonight a slightly more optimistic answer: “We’ll see. You never know.”

“I think if I did, it would be doing a song with my sister, ‘cause that’s the path she’s on, and I want to support that,” said Lindsay of Aliana, 30, who released the single “Without You” in 2022 and covered “Jingle Bells” for the Falling for Christmas soundtrack. “So, I think maybe we could do something together, and that’s where it would happen.”

Elsewhere in the ET interview, Lindsay reacted to learning the 20th anniversary of “Rumors” and its music video are approaching in September. “No way,” she said. “That’s wild.”
