YouTube sensation MrBeast, known off-screen as Jimmy Donaldson, has enlisted the services of high-profile attorney Alex Spiro to counter serious allegations made by a former employee. The ex-staffer, identified as Dawson French, has accused MrBeast of being a “fraud” and a “sociopath” in several online videos, leading to legal action from the 26-year-old content creator.

French, using pseudonyms such as MrBeastCreative and DogPack404, has claimed that MrBeast rigged his well-known cash giveaways and knowingly hired a sex offender. MrBeast has yet to publicly address these allegations, but Spiro’s cease-and-desist letter, which was obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com, disputes French’s claims and threatens legal action if he continues to post what the letter describes as “misinformation and false statements.”

In the letter, Spiro, a partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, demands that French cease his defamatory comments and provides evidence of the alleged falsehoods. The correspondence also warns of potential legal repercussions if French persists with his “unlawful” commentary.

Reached for comment, French stood by his statements, claiming via email, “MrBeast has knowingly kept rapists and pedophiles on payroll, allegedly for legal reasons, although I think some of them were convicted.”

The controversy surrounding MrBeast intensified after accusations emerged involving Ava Kris Tyson, a long-time collaborator. Tyson, who was recently let go from MrBeast’s team, faced allegations of engaging in explicit online communications with a 13-year-old boy. Tyson, who was known as Chris before transitioning, has denied any wrongdoing and the allegations remain unproven.

In response to the scandal, MrBeast has promised an independent investigation and publicly condemned Tyson’s actions, stating on X (formerly Twitter), “I am disgusted and opposed to such unacceptable acts.” Despite this, MrBeast has also faced scrutiny for past behavior, including the resurfacing of old livestream clips in which he used homophobic slurs and made inappropriate remarks about underage individuals.

Additionally, MrBeast’s latest project, “Beast Games,” has been criticized by contestants who reported inadequate provisions during the competition, which features a $5 million prize. The criticisms have raised questions about the working conditions and ethical standards within MrBeast’s rapidly growing empire.

Spiro, whose notable clients include Tesla CEO Elon Musk, rapper Megan Thee Stallion, and actor Alec Baldwin, has been tasked with conducting an internal audit of the MrBeast operation. The audit aims to assess whether recent issues reflect a toxic work environment or merely growing pains of a business that has expanded significantly since its inception eight years ago. At that time, Donaldson, who is now worth an estimated $700 million, was just a 16-year-old creating videos.

Spiro’s involvement is part of a broader strategy to address and mitigate any reputational damage. He has reportedly sent cease-and-desist letters to several individuals who are believed to be exploiting the situation for personal gain, further intensifying the legal and public relations battle surrounding MrBeast.

One such video from DogPack404, released on August 12, accused MrBeast of knowingly employing a registered sex offender. This video featured an interview with Jake Weddle, another former employee, who claimed that a convicted sex offender was on the payroll. However, the identity of the alleged offender was not disclosed, and there was no evidence linking Tyson to these claims.

Earlier this month, a confidential memo obtained by the Associated Press revealed that MrBeast had ordered a comprehensive assessment of his company’s internal culture and initiated an investigation into “allegations of inappropriate behavior by individuals within the company.” In the memo, MrBeast expressed his commitment to improving his leadership style and creating a safer, more supportive work environment.

MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, is renowned for his elaborate and often outlandish YouTube videos, which include high-stakes challenges and philanthropic endeavors. His content has garnered immense popularity, with 309 million subscribers on YouTube and 103 million on TikTok. Notable stunts have included re-enactments of elements from the Netflix show Squid Game, and he has made significant charitable contributions, such as funding cataract surgeries for 1,000 people and donating 20,000 pairs of shoes to children in Africa.

Despite the recent controversies, MrBeast’s influence remains substantial in the digital space, and the ongoing legal and public relations challenges underscore the complexities of managing a high-profile, rapidly growing enterprise in today’s media landscape.
