Pop-rock sensation Olivia Rodrigo just reached a new level of relatable. Rodrigo recently revealed that she got lost on her first day of college classes at the University of Southern California. The singer has taken several classes without enrolling in a full degree program due to her demanding tour schedule, and specifically discussed her time in a poetry class at the University on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” this week.

Rodrigo first referenced the class at a Los Angeles performance of her song “Lacy,” which started as a poem she wrote for homework for the course. The track contains a number of pop culture references and has sparked several different interpretations from fans online, with many sensing that the track is intended to voice Rodrigo’s internal grapple with Eurocentric beauty standards. The singer is half Filipina.

Rodrigo was first spotted in the background of undergraduate students’ snapchat stories from the wrong class circulating on X.

Later in the show, a segment revealed that the singer joined Kimmel’s family for a car ride to school while they listened to her music.

Many found her description of the daunting first day of undergraduate studies to be endearing. She recounted to Kimmel that she “had no friends” and struggled to find her way through the campus, a universal case of first day jitters.

The singer recently released the track “ballad of a homeschooled girl” on her sophomore album “GUTS,” and the song details Rodrigo’s humorously relatable internal monologue about adjusting to her young adult social life post-home school. The singer was home schooled throughout high school due to her demanding Disney + filming schedule for “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.”

The song and recent revelation about her college experience have some X users feeling comforted in their own feelings of social awkwardness.

Others vow to be her friend if she ever appears on their college campus in the near future.

Some continue to offer Rodrigo a personal campus tour should she enroll in further classes at the University. It is rumored that the singer occasionally takes classes within the University’s competitive Thornton School of Music.

Rodrigo is currently promoting her sophomore album “GUTS” ahead of the upcoming tour in support of the album. The singer is set to be joined by Remi Wolf, PinkPantheress, Chappell Roan, and The Breeders as her tour openers. It remains unclear whether the singer intends to continue to pursue college level courses, as she has since moved to New York City.
