Summary:

  • Rosalia sings in German, Spanish, and English in new single “Berghain” with Björk and Yves Tumor.

  • Her music video adds layers to the concept, featuring orchestral scenes and a transformation narrative.

  • The title references Berlin’s exclusive Berghain club, symbolizing isolation, rebirth, and power in Rosalia’s new release.

The Spanish superstar, Rosalia, dropped her new single “Berghain,” and yes — she’s singing in German. The track is an operatic, multilingual collaboration with Björk and Yves Tumor, marking the first release from her upcoming album LUX, out November 7.

The song opens with full orchestral strings before Rosalía’s voice takes over. She switches between German, Spanish, and English, leaving the internet shocked.

Her team described “Berghain” as “a landscape that moves from quiet introspection to cinematic power.” And true to form, Rosalía makes it sound like something between a symphony and a fever dream.

The music video, directed by Nicolás Méndez (Malamente, Pienso En Tu Mirá), adds layers to the concept. It starts with Rosalía in everyday domestic scenes — ironing, drinking coffee, riding a bus — while an orchestra materializes around her.

As the story unfolds, she moves through grief and transformation. Björk appears as a bird-like figure singing in German and English, while Yves Tumor closes the track with distorted percussion.

“Yo sé muy bien lo que soy / Ternura pa’l café / Solo soy un terrón de azúcar,” she sings — intimate, self-aware, and a little unsettling.

The title references Berghain, Berlin’s notoriously exclusive techno club — famous for its mystery and no-photo policy. Rosalía reimagines the name as a symbol of isolation, rebirth, and power.

This isn’t her first time teaming with Björk. The two worked together on 2023’s “Oral,” a dancehall-inspired track tied to an Icelandic environmental campaign. For “Berghain,” they reunited alongside the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Daníel Bjarnason, to push her sound into new territory.

Rosalía recently caused chaos in Madrid’s Plaza Callao after fans swarmed an unannounced promo event for LUX. Days later, she was spotted with Penélope Cruz at the Real Madrid–Barcelona match — a quieter contrast to her viral moments.
