Blake Shelton Pretends He Doesn’t Know Who Benedict Cumberbatch Is

Blake Shelton played The Whisper Challenge with Jimmy Fallon on last night’s Tonight Show, and the country singer and judge on The Voice just couldn’t drop the good-ol-boy persona for a moment and admit that he knew the name of the extremely famous British actor who’s currently nominated for an Academy Award.

If you’re not familiar with The Whisper Challenge, it’s a game popular on YouTube where people try to read each other’s lips. To ensure they aren’t listening, the guesser typically wears headphones blasting loud music. Shelton had a really hard time guessing “Pumpkin Spice Latte” and “Cobra Kai,” while Fallon guessed “Benedict Cumberbatch” and “Fifty Shades of Grey” with no trouble whatsoever.

Shelton consistently insulted the segment, playfully calling it the stupidest thing he’d done in his entire career. Sir, you are a judge on a reality show where delusional individuals try to impress you for a living. You’re only on The Tonight Show because your program is on the same network. Be nice.
