I can’t help but think this will become the new equivalent of tying a bunch of balloons to a lawn chair and accidentally launching yourself into controlled airspace.
A man in the UK built “The Swarm” super-drone, with 54 propellers and a canopied seat and joystick control in the middle. He took it for a test ride in his back garden, making a sound like a giant hornets’ nest and managing to lift himself several feet off the ground a number of times. At one point the super-drone bounced up toward the sky for 15-20 feet, making the guy behind the camera shout “Be careful!”
It’s really only a matter of time before we hear of someone flying over their hometown in their own drone-powered plane. We’ve been warned.
