Natalie Portman and John Krasinski team up for the first time in “Fountain of Youth”, a new Apple TV+ series that premiered on Friday. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the show blends action, humor, and myth as two estranged siblings follow a trail of historical clues in search of the legendary spring said to grant eternal life.

Set against a backdrop of global landmarks, from Vienna’s grand libraries to the pyramids of Egypt, Fountain of Youth follows Charlotte (Portman), an art historian caught in a custody battle, and her brother Luke (Krasinski), a charming rogue with a flair for trouble.

When Luke pulls Charlotte into his latest mission—recovering a lost Rembrandt and unraveling a centuries-old mystery—their journey sets off a chain of adventures spanning continents and centuries.

“I’m always looking for something I can enjoy with my children,” Portman told the AP, noting the show’s balance of high-stakes adventure and family-friendly appeal.

Krasinski, who described the project as a childhood dream come true, added, “This is the movie I pretended to be in when I was a kid.”

The cast also includes Domhnall Gleeson as the operation’s wealthy backer and Eiza González as a protector of the mythical fountain. The team filmed action sequences inside Egypt’s pyramids—a first for a production of this scale—and built massive set pieces, including a replica of the RMS Lusitania, at London’s Leavesden Studios.

Although Fountain of Youth offers sweeping visuals and cinematic scale, it was always intended as a streaming-first series. “There are definitely movies that are being made for streaming, and there are movies being made for theatrical,” Krasinski said. “This was always going to be a streaming movie.”
