YouTube Rewind is the yearly video all YouTubers love to hate and this year’s video is no exception. YouTube’s 2018 rewind video was big budgeted and featured big celebs like Will Smith, Trevor Noah and John Oliver.

But people are claiming this is the worst rewind video yet. Jesse Ridgway said “Watched this year’s #YoutubeRewind … Disappointed. Hate how fucking political the platform has become” , and thisisridz who said “#YouTubeRewind is trash”

Ouch

Viewers pointed out several major exclusions from the video including Pewdiepie, Rhett & Link, Shane Dawson, Jeffree Star. But Shane Dawson is less concerned about himself and more concerned about his good friend Trisha Paytas.

Trisha has over 4 million subscribers, and is credited with popularizing the mukbang boom, but was curiously left out of the mukbang portion of the video.

Shane Dawson tweeted: How the fuck they gonna do a mukbang moment and not have @trishapaytas?

His fans agreed with him. Trisha retweeted Shane, adding: Forever the outcast.

Trisha started her channel in 2006 and focuses on lifestyle vlogs and hauls. Her fans love her for her honest and controversial discussions describing her personal life and past working as a stripper and escort. She models for lingerie and fetish photoshoots, and has her own perfume titled Trish.

Trisha and Shane share a special friendship, as Shane has shared that Trisha helped him through one of the darkest times of his battles with depression. When Shane broke his foot and was stranded on the couch and he said “every single say Trisha came to my tiny apartment and took care of me and made me feel less alone. She listened to me, cried with me, and let me know that no matter what she would have my back till the day we died. Trisha Paytas is a beautiful person inside and out and I am so grateful that she exists. ”

And despite both Shane and Trisha being top creators for the platform, they were both left out of the rewind video.

The video has over 2M dislikes compared to 1M likes. Rewind did include less controversial creators like Markiplier, The Try Guys, Casey Neistat, Elle Mills, Liza Koshy, and focused on G-rated references like Fortnite… lots of Fortnite.

But a lot of people who love YouTube love it for its wild west no rules no answering to the man opportunities. The platform allows for and even encourages controversy, pushing boundaries and innovation, and this concept was not honored in this round up.
