Universal offers a glimpse into the sequel’s high-stakes drama, magic, and music with a new trailer for the second half of the Broadway adaptation.

Universal Pictures has released the first official trailer for Wicked: For Good, the sequel to 2024’s Wicked: Part One, offering fans a preview of the emotional and narrative arcs that will close out this two-part reimagining of the Wizard of Oz universe.

The trailer reintroduces Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, who are now on separate paths following the fallout of Part One’s climactic ending. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film will explore Elphaba’s life in exile and Glinda’s rise to power in the Emerald City, as familiar events from The Wizard of Oz begin to unfold in the background.

What to Expect from ‘Wicked: For Good’

According to the official synopsis, the sequel picks up immediately after Elphaba’s public condemnation by the Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh). With Elphaba on the run and Glinda navigating her newfound influence, For Good continues the story of friendship, identity, and the choices that shape legends.

Returning cast members include Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Ethan Slater, and others. The film’s title draws from the duet “For Good,” a pivotal number from the original Broadway production that explores the lasting impact of Elphaba and Glinda’s bond.

Released in November 2024, Wicked: Part One was both a box office and critical success. It earned over $600 million worldwide and received multiple award nominations for its performances, music, and production design.

The film was praised for modernizing the original stage play while maintaining its core themes of justice, transformation, and personal agency.
